This is our favorite way to cook 1915 Farm Grassfed New York Strip Steaks! Searing in cast iron then transferring to the oven is a simple way to ensure your steak is cooked to the perfect temperature! We love a nice medium rare (130°–135° in the center). Remember, steak will continue to cook as it rests, so pull it a bit early to prevent overcooking.
INGREDIENTS
- 1915 Farm Grassfed New York Strip Steak
- 1-2 Tbsp neutral, high heat oil such as avocado oil
- 2 Tbsp butter
- Salt to taste
- 1915 Grill Seasoning
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 400°
Pat steak dry completely with paper towel. Season steak generously with salt and 1915 Grill Seasoning. Heat cast iron, or other oven proof skillet over medium-high. Once pan is hot, add about a tablespoon of avocado oil.
Sear steak without moving for 2-3 minutes, until a deep golden crust is formed. Then, flip the steak, add a chunk of butter on top, and immediately transfer the skillet in the oven for about 4 minutes, or until desired internal temperature is reached. Remove steak to a cutting board and let rest 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
