Chicken hearts are an easy and delicious way to sneak in the essential vitamins and minerals we need! They're rich in folate, iron, zinc, and selenium. Chicken hearts are also a great source of B vitamins. Our pasture raised chickens are raised outdoors on pasture and moved daily across ample forage here on our local Texas farm, so rest easy – all of our offal is as nutritious and flavorful as it gets!
INGREDIENTS
- 1915 Farm Pasture Raised Chicken Hearts
- 1/2 cup coconut aminos (low sodium soy sauce or tamari can also be used)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp ginger powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Skewers for cooking
INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare hearts by trimming away fat by cutting off the top 1/5th of the heart and slicing down the center to fold open. Put in a bowl and rinse with water to remove any blood clots, and drain well.
To make marinade, combine all ingredients above and whisk to combine.
Pour marinade over hearts and refrigerate for 30-60 minutes. Place hearts on skewers and grill on high heat for 2 minutes per side. The key is a good sear, while being careful not to overcook them. We enjoyed them alongside our 1915 Farm steak kabobs and grilled peppers! Enjoy!
