What’s better than a box of chocolates or a dozen roses? A dozen chocolate-dipped BACON roses, of course. These sweet & salty bites are made with our house-made pasture raised bacon, rolled into rosebuds, glazed with maple syrup and brown sugar, roasted to crispy perfection, then dipped in chocolate. They’re super simple to make (perfect for little helpers!), totally unique, and guaranteed to make Mom smile.
INGREDIENTS
- One package of 1915 Farm Pasture Raised Bacon (any of our three varieties)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar (dark or medium both work)
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Special equipment: toothpicks, foil or parchment paper, basting brush
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll each strip of bacon into a spiral, keeping the meaty side facing upward to resemble a rosebud. Secure with a toothpick at the seam, then insert a second toothpick perpendicular to form an X — this helps the bacon roses stand upright while baking.
Place a wire rack on a large baking sheet lined with foil or parchment (don't skip this, melted sugar will burn on the pan so you'll want easy cleanup). Arrange the bacon roses on the rack, spacing them about 1 inch apart. In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup, and brown sugar. Brush the glaze generously over the top of each bacon rose.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the bacon is deep red and the edges are crispy. If bacon is turning too dark on top, reduce heat to 375°F for the last 10 minutes or so.
Let cool for 10 minutes on the rack, then carefully remove toothpicks. Dip the bottom of each bacon rose in melted chocolate and return to the rack to set for about 10 minutes before serving. Arrange in a cute gift box with tissue paper or parchment paper for a fun presentation, or place on a small platter. Enjoy!
